Dubai, UAE, November 24, 2016: Fun Works, the super-sized family entertainment center in Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi hosted their first partnership event with health and nutrition experts, Slices to bring a morning of food, fun and play to parents and children in the UAE capital.
During the morning, which marks the first in a series of events which are to be hosted by the leisure brand, parents and children were invited to Bake Works, one of ten interactive learning workshops at My Works, where children are encouraged to learn through their play experiences.
Together, visitors and Louise Du Plessis, School Food Program Director for Slices explored the benefits of healthy food, where it comes from, and how to tempt those all-too-common fussy-eaters. Guests were then invited to join in a healthy challenge which saw mums and children come together to design their own simple, but highly nutritious lunches as a team.
'The key to staying nutritious and healthy is adding as much fresh produce as possible into your child's diet,' commented Louise Du Plessis. 'We know it can be difficult, but if parents can substitute pre-packed products with fresh ingredients just two or three times a week they can begin to make small changes which greatly reduce a child's sugar intake. One simple tip is to add fresh fruit chunks to natural yogurt instead of buying the pre-mixed varieties, by doing this you can reduce sugar by up to 8 grams per 100grams which is the equivalent to two teaspoons full of sugar,' Louise added.
Fun Works offers all the right ingredients to bring children, parents and experts together in a family-friendly environment. Partnering with health experts Slices, and with a little help from the Fun Works food expert Bake Works, children can be encouraged to make healthy food choices that may last a lifetime, whilst parents gain valuable advice and tips on nutrition and share their challenges with other parents. This means that the learning experience becomes not only a playful time for both children and adults, but also a fruitful one.
Be it through the thrill of an adventure ride, exploring a soft play structure or letting their imaginations run wild in Art Works, Fun Works is all about getting kids to be curious and excited about play.
