DUBAI, UAE 6 November 2023 – The first Emirates flights operating with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) provided by Shell Aviation have taken off from Dubai International Airport (DXB). Emirates’ flight EK 412 bound for Sydney on 24 October was among the first to operate with SAF.
Shell has supplied 315,000 gallons of blended SAF for use at the airline’s hub in Dubai. This first ever supply of SAF to Emirates in Dubai has enabled the airline to power a number of missions over the course of the last few weeks.
The blended SAF supplied by Shell into the DXB airport fuelling system was comprised of a ratio of 40% neat SAF and 60% conventional Jet A-1 fuel. The chemical characteristics at this ratio are identical to conventional jet fuel, and can seamlessly be integrated into the existing ......read more

Dubai – 2 November 2023: Some people think that due to the high volume of travelers coming to Dubai, it might be easier to smuggle prohibited substances. However, Dubai Customs officers are closely monitoring and actively countering any attempts of smuggling. A prime example of their success is when inspectors from the Passenger Operations Department at Dubai International Airport apprehended a traveler arriving from a European country who was trying to smuggle various small drugs that were cleverly concealed within his luggage, making them hard to detect.
The items included 292 hallucinogenic pills, 5 hallucinogenic stamps, 13.84 grams of hallucinogenic powder, 7.38 grams of crack cocaine, and 274.59 grams of the narcotic substance known as "crystal."

5 October 2023: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that the strong post-pandemic passenger traffic trend continued in August.
• Total traffic in August 2023 (measured in revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs) rose 28.4% compared to August 2022. Globally, traffic is now at 95.7% of pre-COVID levels.
• Domestic traffic for August rose 25.4% versus August 2022 and was 9.2% above the August 2019 results. This is largely driven by Chinese domestic demand.
• International traffic climbed 30.4% compared to the same month a year ago. All markets saw double-digit percentage gains year on year. International RPKs reached 88.5% of August 2019 levels.
