Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority welcomes the public to celebrate World Heritage Day on April 17th with an array of educational workshops at Al Ain National Museum Abu Dhabi, April 16, 2015: In celebration of World Heritage Day 2015, TCA Abu Dhabi is welcoming people from across the Emirates to enjoy an early evening of engaging educational workshops and special heritage activities at Al Ain National Museum on Friday, April 17th. Taking place between 4pm - 7pm, Al Ain National Museum will embrace the values of World Heritage Day, which yearly sees the international community come together to protect, conserve, and celebrate the importance of history and heritage at important cultural sites around the world. Open for all ages to enjoy, workshops include Sultan’s Fort workshop, The Souvenir’s workshop, the Heritage Scrolls workshop, and a variety of other educational activities. With displays dating as far back to the first millennium BC, Al Ain National Museum highlights the deep heritage and history of the Emirate of Al Ain, with a range of presentations that illustrate the formation of UAE life through the ages. Divided into three main sections of archaeology, ethnography and gifts, highlights in the museum include collections of Bedouin jewellery, musical instruments, weapons, and a reconstruction of a traditional majlis. The gifts section also includes an unusual collection of presents that Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan received during his lifetime, including golden swords, silver daggers and a golden palm tree. Al Ain National Museum is located on the edge of Al Ain Oasis.
