Ahmed Al Ameri scores top spot at the Emirates round of 2016 King of Nations World Drift Championship

Dubai, UAE, February 1, 2016:   Ahmed Al Ameri, lead driver of Al-Futtaim Motors’ TRD Emirates Drifting Team, placed first overall at the Emirates round of the 2016 King of Nations World Drift Championship, which took place on January 28th and 29th, having gone head-to-head with some of the world’s most accomplished drift professionals.

After placing third in qualifying, Al Ameri pushed through to rank first overall in both the King of Nations World Drift Championship and King of Desert Drift Pro Series, scoring a total of 128 points, 13 points ahead of his next closest competitor.

Speaking about the win, Al Ameri said: “This was a very exciting race. Going up against 39 other drivers means the competition pool is as wide as it is varied, with different styles to entertain the crowd. It was a good experience that really cemented the UAE drifting scenes as one of the best globally. Now we look forward to the next race in the series.”

Al Ameri will participate in the second race of the King of Desert Drift Pro Series, which takes place in Oman on the 5th of February, driving his modified TRD Toyota 86

The final race of the series will be held again in the UAE, and will take place on April 14th-15th, where Al Ameri will vie for the championship title on home turf.
