Dubai, UAE, February 1, 2016: The Middle East Public Relations Association (MEPRA) successfully hosted its ninth Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 19th of January at the Radisson Blu Hotel, where the major initiatives undertaken in the year 2015 were reviewed and the proposed strategic plan for 2016 was approved. In his opening address, Chairman Brian Lott, presented the roadmap to this year’s agenda and shared views that will be reflected in the allocated initiatives for the year 2016. The AGM also resulted in the appointment of a new board, which includes Alex Malouf, Baiju Kurieash, Christine Sarkis, Deema Kingsmill-Moore, Fahad Al Qahtani, Farah Al Alami, Jason Leavy, Mazen Nahawi, Ray Eglington, Sami Moutran, Simon Buerk and Thomas Ashby. The members will collectively play a proactive role in the ongoing planning and execution process taking place in the organization. Commenting on this year’s AGM, Chairman Brian Lott said: “The year 2015 was monumental in terms of major initiatives that were introduced by MEPRA. In response to the great feedback we received last year, this year’s strategy composes a continuation of the series of initiatives that were launched in 2015 along with an addition of an array of industry engagements.” The initiatives that will be seen this year include: − MEPRA Leadership Majlis, an annual forum of discussion on the various issues being faced by the communicators and the public relations professionals. This forum will endeavor to bring eminent speakers from around the world and the region to illustrate on various themes. − MEPRA Connect Breakfasts, a monthly meeting for the members, where MEPRA award winning agencies will share their winning case studies, with a motive to introduce best practices within the Industry. − MEPRA Academy, an institution designed to offer a set of training courses and solutions to communications professionals across the region. The MEPRA Academy is part of the association’s efforts to promote learning and development for marketing communications practitioners at every stage of their career. − MEPRA Webinars and Media Evenings, monthly events to support member development in key areas of the industry such as internal communications and public affairs, as well as promote engagement with the region’s media.
