UAE Team Emirates Continue Pursuit of Italian Victory
Dubai, UAE, September 28, 2017:  UAE Team Emirates continue their pursuit of an Italian race win as they head to Emilia-Romagna (Italy) and Bologna (Italy) to take part in two, one day UCI Europe races - the Giro dell'Emilia (September 30) and the Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli (October 1).

Eight UAE Team Emirates' riders will form the line-up, which features the previous winner of Giro dell'Emilia and the winner of Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli. Taking part in the 100th edition of Giro dell'Emilia - a 223km race that starts in Bologna and finishes with the challenging loop in San Luca - is Italian all-rounder Diego Ulissi, who was victorious here in 2013. Joining Ulissi at the one day race are; Darwin Atapuma (Colombia), Valerio Conti (Italy), Manuele Mori (Italy), Przemyslaw Niemiec (Poland), Simone Petilli (Italy), Edward Ravasi (Italy) and Francesco Romano - trainee (Italy).

Commenting on his upcoming participation, Diego Ulissi said:“I would like to be one of the primary players in how the 100th edition of this race unfolds. I won on San Luca in 2013 and the look forward to race here again, as the final circuit is as exciting as it is challenging. I’ll have to be in top form to do well.”

UAE Team Emirates will have another winner amongst the line-up for the Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli. Having won the race in 2014, Italian rider Valerio Conti will be joined by seven of his teammates including; Matteo Bono (Italy), Simone Consonni (Italy), Andrea Guardini (Italy), Manuele Mori (Italy), Przemyslaw Niemiec (Poland), Francesco Romano - trainee (Italy) and Federico Zurlo (Italy).

Commenting on his return to the race, Conti said:“I think the Gp Beghelli is one of the most spectacular races on the Italian calendar. I’ve been training really hard lately to prepare myself for a demanding race, which I won in 2014. This race provides a lot of opportunities for sprinters, but should the race become selective, I will try my best to remain in the midst of it all.”

Commenting on his expectation for the race and the key riders, UAE Team Emirates’ Sport Director Orlando Maini, said:“In the Giro dell’Emilia, the San Luca circuit will be the most critical part of the race. Ulissi, Atapuma and Conti will aim to arrive to the last part of the race with maximum energy and in order to do this they will have to be ready to join any breaks that may form in the first part of the race. As for the Gp Beghelli, fast and resistant riders like Consonni and Zurlo could be major contenders in the final. Amongst the line-up we have a previous 2014 winner of the race - Conti. Conti will have to make sure to remain in the front and be ready for any final attacks towards the finish line if he is to repeat his 2014 win.”

UAE Team Emirates will next compete at several Italian races which include; Tre Valli Varesine on 3 October, Milano-Torino on 4 October, Gran Piemonte on 5 October and Il Lombardia on 7 October.
