SPRING / SUMMER 2021 ‘BELMONDE’ An ode to life - to the beautiful moments we create together. United Arab Emirates, October 11, 2020: Unapologetically free-spirited, transcendently bold, and wildly enchanting - The scene is set in the late sixties in Saint-Tropez, the era’s playground and the golden-age of Godard’s New Wave Cinema - where women play the lead and leave a long-lasting impression. A storyline as told by on-screen femme fatales, a series of unexpected adventures on the French Riviera - a place where one goes to get away from it all, but also to get noticed. The Kristina Fidelskaya Spring / Summer 2021 collection is entitled 'Belmonde' - inspired by the charisma & magnetic persona of famed French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, and the cinematic characters he played through the sixties and seventies - as well as a subtle word play on 'Bel Monde' borrowed from the French term “Beau Monde” - translated literally into “Beautiful World”. This season’s collection is composed of a variety of daring and romantically untamed looks, comprised of the brand's signature intricate hand-cut leather, kaleidoscopic seventies print, delicate embroidered floral tulle, antenna cockerel feather chubbies, accentuated by modernist perplex chain belts, necklaces, & anklets - a unique combination of bespoke couture silhouettes worked into contemporary sportswear. The Spring / Summer 2021’s looks are a love letter to monochromatic dressing, with matching ensembles paired with color coded accessories. But it is also a story of contrasts - outerwear worn with panache, dark sleek trench coats paired with bright thigh-high burnt orange boots, provoking sculpted leather bustier tops assorted to graceful tulle. Primary hues, paired with provocative sartorial flair make for an enduring summer - exuberant intrigue, intoxicating romance, requiring an absurdly chic and fast sportscar, a must have for any passionate affair of the heart. “I’ve been forever enraptured by Jean-Luc Godard’s satire of the lovers-on-the-run scenario with Anna Karina and Belmondo, and their compelling dynamic in “A woman is a woman”. The feeling of setting off on unplanned escapades and long coastal drives truly epitomizes the feeling of summer, and how beautifully life can be lived in those spontaneous moments - which I have intended to recreate through the ‘Belmonde’ collection.” - Kristina Fidelskaya
