Market intelligence and networking platform builds on inaugural year success to become industry’s de facto forum Dubai 10 November, 2015 MAZ Chartered Accountants, the region’s leading audit, taxation, financial and management consultancy held its second MAZ Annual Seminar on November 10th 2015 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City. The seminar, ‘MAZ Go Business’, progressed while shedding light on the success of the inaugural event held in December last year that attracted many of the industry’s leading decision-makers, experts and stakeholders. The seminar took pride of place for industry professionals to gain market intelligence, develop contacts, improve their networks, and keep apace with a dynamic field presenting constantly changing circumstances. The seminar hosted a schedule of powerful talks addressing key developments in financial circles and the accounting sphere. “MAZ Annual Seminar has now become a yearly tradition that brings together thought leaders and experts to create a platform for sharing new ideas and knowledge on industry trends. It reflects the move of accounting and financial considerations towards a strategic role, and the desire amongst stakeholders and professionals to debate and learn at the highest level,” said Ghazanfar Jaffri, Business Development Manager - MAZ. “This platform helps create business networks, generate new business and also encourages transfer of knowledge. Since our first launch, MAZ has taken long strides towards becoming a globally recognised concern. The second MAZ Annual Seminar reflects this in terms of the breadth of issues being discussed and the expertise being brought to each session,” added Jaffri. During the seminar, ‘Topp DMCC and Jena Standards’ Partner, Biraja Jena, discussed the potential impact of individual and corporate tax on companies, individuals and citizens in the UAE. The Bloomington’s Head of the Maths Department, Wasif Ghani, built on the theme by delivering a powerful presentation on the implications of the UAE’s proposed VAT and corporate tax for the economy as well as individuals. The Founder of ‘Not Just Numbers’, Thanj Kugananthan, shared ideas on how business owners might save on staff costs, while MAZ’s Audit Manager, Nayab Tariq, discussed why corporate concerns need to know about taxation schemes. Mazrui Holding’s Head of Internal Audit Alok Tuteja turned the discussion towards Information Technology risk. ISACA UAE Chapter’s Director Asif Hussain Pirzada revisited the impact of proposed corporate and VAT taxes on companies and individuals. “The Seminar stayed true to its aims of generating valuable new insight while tracking important potential shifts in the industry. The aim is to help professionals in finance and accounting help perform their job better through knowledge that is timely, reliable and relevant,” Imtiaz Hassan, Senior Audit Manager - MAZ. Throughout 2015, MAZ has notched up a number of accomplishments. New branches have been opened in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and London. In 2015, the business grew 27.49 percent in the year of 2015, and also got the stringent ISO 90001:2008 certification for its Quality Management Systems. In 2015, MAZ was instrumental in resolving 50 plus cases in the Dubai Courts and the Dubai International Arbitration Centre. MAZ continues having ambitious aims for the year ahead. The company has announced plans to further expand its reach with branches in all the UAE’s seven Emirates. Moreover, a branch is being planned for Doha, Qatar, and one for Hong Kong.
