Dubai, October 22, 2015 - This weekend, Hyundai celebrated the Middle East launch of the new, high performance Veloster Turbo with a key mall activation in Dubai. To showcase the company’s participation in the FIA World Rally Championship, the Korean manufacturer gave away two cars and a trip to the Rally RACC Catalunya stage of the World Rally Championship in Spain in October and on the spot prizes as part of their 2015 Middle East Hyundai Racing Challenge final in Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates this weekend. “Hyundai’s new Velostar Turbo has raised the benchmark for excitement in its segment, so it was an obvious choice to announce its arrival by offering a pulse-racing competition set in a key customer location in Dubai; the Mall of the Emirates. As well as raising awareness for Hyundai’s sports models that have been designed to offer the ultimate motoring experience, this adrenaline-inspired activation gave away several great prizes for those who could prove their performance driving gaming skills. It all added up to the 2015 Middle East Hyundai Racing Challenge being a winner in every sense!” said Khaldon Abdel Hafez, Marketing Manager, Hyundai UAE. Run in association with EA game company, the competition encouraged fans to virtually compete in order to test their skills against the best online racers from across the region. Throughout the competition, thousands of performance car and gaming fans from around the region took part in the Hyundai Racing Challenge, and on the spot prizes were given away at Mall of the Emirates including MacBooks, iPads and shopping vouchers. The adrenaline-filled final championship took place in Dubai, UAE, Amman, Jordan and Dammam Saudi Arabia over a five month period drawing in mall goers and top gamers from region-wide. The top nine contestants from the UAE and Saudi Arabia gathered at Mall of the Emirates in Dubai this weekend to compete to win a Veloster Turbo and the trip to the WRC at the Hyundai stand. To mark the occasion Jin (James) Kim, Vice-President and Head of Hyundai Africa and Middle East was in attendance at the final. During his visit he said: “This was another great Hyundai event that brought like-minded people together to celebrate the fun and exciting attributes of the Veloster Turbo. At the same time the activities gave our fans lovers the chance to compete with the car, staying true to its young fun and sporty brand values. With over 5000 Hyundai fans in attendance over the final event, we were delighted to see such a great turn out from our ever growing and loyal fan base.” Courtesy of its 204 hp, 1.6-litre turbo engine, the new Veloster Turbo offers an ideal blend of performance, savvy specifications and useful technological infotainment features.
