Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 26 June, 2026: A Kenyan expat resident of Dubai says winning a brand-new Jetour T2 Luxury Plus, courtesy of Elite Group Holding, after attending GameExpo, has given him extra motivation to pass his driving test and get behind the wheel of the SUV. GameExpo, within DEF, was organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

Tony Afula, 38, could not believe his luck when he was named the winner of the Jetour T2 Luxury Plus. The competition was open to the tens of thousands of GameExpo attendees who purchased their tickets, earning them an automatic place in the prize draw.

The software engineer, who has lived in Dubai for three years, is learning to drive and hopes to obtain his licence soon so he can finally enjoy the car he's had his eyes on for a long time.

He said: "It is a car that I wanted to have for a while as I have seen it many times before and I really like the exterior and interior features. It really is a dream come true.

"This car has given me more motivation to pass my driving test and push me further to complete it even earlier, as I really want to start driving this car since I am using public transport to travel and it will make my everyday life much easier."

Winning the Jetour T2 Luxury Plus car was a perfect way to top off his first time visit to GameExpo at Dubai World Trade Centre between 5 to 7 June. The mega event formed part of the wider Dubai Esports & Games Festival, and brought together gaming, esports, anime, cosplay, retro arcades, family entertainment, food experiences, creator culture, retail and fan communities all under one roof.

He added: "I really enjoyed myself at GameExpo, especially as I have a big interest in technology and gaming. I never knew there were so many people who were interested in these sectors – there were thousands of people of all ages taking part in different activities. I enjoyed the Cosplay entertainment, it was fascinating to see the effort that people put into creating their costumes, which looked realistic to the real-life characters. I cannot wait to attend next year with my new Jetour car!"

DEF was presented by du, with the support of key partners including Amazon, Dubai Culture, Jetour UAE, part of Elite Group Holding, talabat, Roxy Cinemas, Rove Hotels, Red Bull Gaming Ground, Emirates Esports Federation, Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Police, DMCC Gaming Centre and Dubai SME.

Together, these leading organisations are helping power one of the region's largest celebrations of gaming, esports, and digital entertainment.

Next year's DEF will return for its sixth edition from 9 to 25 April with GameExpo taking place at Dubai World Trade Centre.
