United Arab Emirates, Dubai, October 27, 2013: Hatta Hospital has expanded its maternity service and has opened a labour suite, a post-natal ward and a special baby care unit, said a top health official. Dr Saif Abdulla Saeed AlWali , CEO of Hatta Hospital said that the hospital has been steadily expanding since its inception and that the latest maternal services were introduced due to the number of growing maternity cases that the hospital has been receiving. He said: “We are gradually growing in terms of resources and facilities. In January 2013, we began our in-patient services and the hospital has handled several maternity cases including emergencies. We are confident that these services will further enhance the care we provide to the people living in and around the area.” Dr. Abdulaziz Abdulla Al Zarooni, Medical Director of Hatta Hospital said that the hospital has a fully functional obstetrics and gynaecology unit equipped with emergency delivery rooms. He added that the hospital has opened a special baby care unit (SBCU) to manage babies that require extra care. Dr. Yasmin Irfan, Head of obstetrics and gynaecology unit at Hatta Hospital said that the unit has 14 beds of which four are for gynaecology cases, three for antenatal cases, four for post-natal cases and three beds are for the labour suite. She said that since January this year, the hospital has receive 323 admissions, in which 205 were for antenatal care, four for post-natal care & 114 were for gynaecological care. “We conducted 159 procedures in obstetrics, of these 106 were normal deliveries & 15 were caesarean section deliveries. We also conduced 38 gynaecological procedures, including laparotomy for the removal of ovarian cysts.” Hatta Hospital is a 123-bed multi-specialty hospital located in Hatta city centre. The health facility is an addition to the DHA's network of hospitals and health centres and is aimed at providing a people-focussed health Care in the emirate of Dubai. The modern two-storey health facility occupies an area of 10,430 square metres near the new Sha'biah in Hatta. Having a population of 40,000 citizens in its vicinity, the Hospital receives patients from nearby towns like Al Huwaylat, Al Minayei, Masfout,Al Muzaireh, Al Madam, Al Shuwaib and some parts of the Sultanate of Oman.
