Remarkable Net Zero Energy City to take center stage at Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture

Dubai, UAE, February 11, 2016: Diamond Developers is set to showcase the UAE’s first premier sustainable community, The Sustainable City, at this year’s highly anticipated Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture (GFIA).

GFIA exists to bring together public decision-makers, private sector champions and civil society leaders who develop and catalyze innovations for sustainable agriculture. The Sustainable City Development, which is the region’s first Net Zero Energy City, will be unveiled during both days of the exhibition, which is to be held at ADNEC from February 16th -17th. Diamond Developers was also specially selected by GFIA to provide an exclusive technical tour of the City’s concepts on February 18th.

Faris Saeed, CEO and Co-Founder of Diamond Developers, said, “We are happy that the sustainable city was chosen by the organizers as the destination for this year’s technical tour. We look forward to welcoming experts and professionals to The Sustainable City so that they can see how we turned this vision into a living reality, and how urban farming is co-existing with all other elements of The Sustainable City”

The Sustainable City is considered one of the most innovative and unique developments in the region. In line with Dubai’s ambitious aim to become an international model of sustainable living, the project promotes the idea of urban agriculture with the inclusion of a 3 hectare farm running across the City’s central spine. This community farm accommodates 38,000 sqft (3,500 sqm) of Biodomes Greenhouses dedicated to the growing of fruits, herbs and vegetables, allowing residents to enjoy local year round healthy food. Residents will have the opportunity to participate in community farming groups and a Community Supported Agriculture food box program that will see fresh produce and trays of herbs delivered door to door on a weekly basis.
