Telecom operator is awarded for employee engagement excellence for the second consecutive year Dubai, UAE, 6 July 2015: du, the fastest growing telecommunications company in the UAE, has been recognised for its unwavering commitment to its employees at the Gallup Great Workplace Awards for the second consecutive year. du is the only telecommunications company to be honoured with the prestigious award that is an international benchmark. Ibrahim Nassir, Chief Human Capital and Administration Officer at du, accepted the Award during a ceremony held in Nebraska, USA, earlier this month. The Gallup Great Workplace Award recognises exceptional organisations with leaders who understand that employee engagement drives real business outcomes. As the only telecom major among the 40 global organisations on the list, du exemplifies global engagement standards in the ICT sector. Some of the other organisations among the 40 winners this year include BCA (Bank Central Asia), Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Mars, Incorporated and DBS among others. On receiving the award, Nassir said: “As an employer of choice, employee engagement is a top priority for du’s higher management. We will continue to raise the bar on our engagement strategies to positively drive our employee engagement year on year by motivating and awarding our engaged work force. The immense benefits derived from listening to our employees and following best practice standards are not just limited to having a happy and engaged workforce. It also has a positive effect on sustainability levels, both within our organisation and for the larger UAE community. Our goals for next year are to increase our employee engagement efforts and be on the Gallup Great Workplace Awards for the third year.” Last year, du increased its employee engagement levels to 4.29, placing the organisation in the 65th percentile of Gallup’s global benchmark. Based on employee feedback, du introduced several initiatives to further engagement levels throughout 2015 and inspire employees. These include the introduction of the wellness department within the company and setting up the employee engagement awards for the Top 55 club comprising the most engaged managers, the best turnaround teams and the three most engaged departments.
