September 23, 2014: The Oman Ministry of Tourism has revealed that it will be participating at the 4th Arab Aviation and Media Summit, the only aviation and tourism conference dedicated to media representatives in the Middle East, on September 24, 2014 at the Hamra Convention Center in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. To be held under the theme ‘Aviation & Tourism: Common Vision and Purpose,’ the annual conference will discuss the interdependence of the tourism and aviation sectors and its impact on the Arab region’s social and economic development. Gamal Sadek, Director, Representative Offices – AGCC Sultanate of Oman Ministry of Tourism, will take part in the Panel Discussion titled ‘MENA Aviation & Tourism: Growth Path Versus Global Trends’ along with Paul-Franck Bijou, CEO of Airbus Prosky, and Andre Herrenschmidt, General Manager of Waldorf Astoria, Ras Al Khaimah. The panel will debate key topics such as the impact of aviation infrastructure on tourism growth, necessary measures to overcome challenges and maximize opportunities for growth in the MENA region’s aviation and tourism sectors, as well as regulation of aviation and tourism to better serve the economy.
Salim Al Mamari, Director General of Tourism Promotions, Oman Ministry of Tourism, said: “We firmly believe that aviation and tourism share a symbiotic relationship and the success and growth of one sector positively impacts the other. This standpoint is the reason behind the Ministry’s collaboration with different airlines, starting with the national carrier of Oman, to boost tourism in our country, which has reaped benefits for both industries. On a broader perspective, the region’s aviation industry is currently experiencing a significant growth, which undoubtedly has a favorable impact on the MENA’s expanding tourism sector. There is a need for the key players from both sectors to foster relationships in order to leverage this synergy and continue to secure a sustainable development which contributes to the social and economic growth of the region.” Air Arabia has organized this year’s Arab Aviation and Media Summit in collaboration with Oman’s Ministry of Tourism; Airbus Group, a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services, and CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aviation and Snecma to build and support the CFM56 series of jet engines, and in partnership with the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (TDA), a Ras Al Khaimah Government entity aimed at developing and promoting the emirate’s tourism infrastructure. Last year’s edition, which took place at Salalah in Oman, was a highly successful event that drew over 150 participants. It hosted several high-profile speakers along with local and regional editors and media representatives.
