‘EHSMS’ Awareness Day - 31 March

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) employees celebrated an awareness day yesterday (31 March) as part of the Environmental Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) tool used to foster a safe work environment.

SKMC, managed by Cleveland Clinic, is part of the SEHA Health System and owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA), which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The EHSMS is designed to ensure workers’ safety and the promotion and maintenance of the highest degree of physical, mental and social well-being of workers by preventing ill health, controlling risks and the adaptation of work to people, and people to their work.

Through the protection of workers, the system also protects patients, visitors, suppliers, nearby communities and other members of the public impacted by the SKMC workplace environment and activities. SKMC has had an approved EHSMS since 2012, as decreed by the Crown Prince, Chairman of the Executive Council.

The awareness day was designed to encourage employee engagement and participation, working together as a team in bettering safety within the organisation for patients, community, employees and the environment.
