Team Members from Across the Region Celebrate Second Annual Hilton Worldwide Global Week of Service

Local Volunteers Join Thousands of Team Members Across 90 Countries and Territories by Serving Their Local Communities

DUBAI, UAE – OCTOBER 13, 2013 - In celebration of Hilton Worldwide's second annual Global Week of Service, October 6 – 12, volunteers from the region's hotels joined together to serve local communities across the Middle East.

Community service is a tradition embedded in Hilton Worldwide's culture, and acts of volunteerism occur year-round across ten distinct brands and 4,000 properties. The efforts are a part of Hilton Worldwide's week-long celebration of the company's commitment to serving the communities where we live, work and travel, which this year includes more than twelve hundred hands-on service projects globally.

“Global Week of Service is a great opportunity for us to join together to make a real difference in our local communities, and I am proud to see that Hilton Worldwide hotels in the Middle East have embraced it with such enthusiasm,” said Rudi Jagersbacher, president, Hilton Worldwide Middle East and Africa. “We are delighted to collaborate with such special and inspiring organizations, as we work hand-in-hand for the greater good of our communities.”

Across the region, team members celebrated the importance of strengthening local communities, through activities which will have a continual and lasting local impact.

Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa team members, conducted an “English Workshop” with an eager audience of inspiring young children from Al Nader Private School. The hotel hosted 15 children between the ages of four and six years old, as volunteers led interactive lessons on basic English language skills. As lessons drew to a close, the day was concluded with a football game and lunch for everyone involved.

Celebrating Global Week of Service, a team of 50 volunteers from Hilton Sharjah teamed up with local waste management company, Bee'ah. Descending on Al Khan Beach, volunteers from both organizations came together to clear and clean the area, while raising awareness for eco-friendly initiatives.

Similarly in Makkah, over 75 volunteers from Makkah Hilton & Towers took to the streets of the Holy City, participating in a city center clean-up in the vicinity of the world's largest mosque, Masjid Al-Haram. Highlighting the value of community projects, the team members' efforts left the streets litter free.

In a bid to create opportunities in the local community, Madinah Hilton invited hospitality graduates from Madinah College to shadow senior executive team members, providing an insight into the day-to-day roles of hospitality professionals in KSA. In similar efforts, Hilton Abu Dhabi invited European International College students to the hotel to build their understanding of hotel operations and management in the UAE. Hilton Abu Dhabi's operational managers introduced the students to key departments across the hotel, while explaining their stake in Hilton's promise to deliver outstanding hospitality.

Global Week of Service is Hilton Worldwide's largest annual volunteer service initiative and brings together team members from across Hilton Worldwide's corporate offices and hotel properties, helping to strengthen the company's connections with its communities and bringing it closer together as a global team.
