28 February 2023 – In line with its efforts to develop the Arabic language and enhance its spread, a delegation from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), led by its CEO H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb, visited the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The visiting delegation was received at the Academy’s headquarters by its Secretary General Prof. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed areas of cooperation, means to support youth, and cooperation in the development of the Arabic language. In addition, the meeting explored the launch of joint projects that could contribute to enhancing knowledge dissemination, especially among the youth, and positively impact Arabic language usage. The two sides also discussed the possibility of developing the Arabic language’s cognitive role worldwide and engaging the largest number of people around the world in using Arabic.

H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb said, “Our visit forms part of the MBRF’s continuing efforts to enhance the role of Arabic language in the society. Therefore, we are pleased to cooperate with the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language - one of the leading organizations striving for the preservation and pervasiveness of the Arabic language. The Academy plays an important role in disseminating, preserving, and enhancing the language’s role in various fields and serves as a reference with regard to the Arabic language and its disciplines.”

“At the MBRF, we are keen to empower and preserve our language as a symbol of the historical contributions of Arabs to the development of human civilizations. Simultaneously, we are striving to highlight the role of knowledge by supporting research, development, publishing, and translation activities to empower the in general and youth in particular,” H.E. added.

Furthermore, the meeting also reviewed MBRF’s initiatives to enhance the role of the Arabic language, including the ‘Bil Arabi’ initiative, which organizes various Arabic language events through digital and social media channels. Another topic of the meeting was the MBRF’s Digital Knowledge Hub, the largest open Arabic platform and incubator for digital content, which offers a free environment for institutions to share digital content, thus enabling their online presence. Being the first platform at the Arab level to offer features such as subscriptions for institutions, individuals, and the market on a single platform, the Hub helps Arab publishers establish a strong presence in the UAE and the wider Arab region. The Hub also enables all users, including students, researchers, and readers, to access free knowledge without restrictions.

The Hub’s role was also highlighted in relation to promoting reading by providing access to a huge collection of books and literature in Arabic in various fields of knowledge, as well as the dissemination of Arabic knowledge to the world.
