Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 07, 2020:   HE Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Promotion Department (HPD) at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, said that  the World Health Day 2020 Under the theme “Support Nurses and Midwives”, is coinciding with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) which is one of the major health challenges in the world.  

The role and dedication of the medical cadres to curbing patient’s suffering and mitigating their burdens became apparent. They form the front line of defense to maintain the health and safety of everyone, reflecting the noble meanings of the nursing profession and the health care providers in general.


Since the emergence of COVID-19, Health Promotion Department and health-supporting associations, under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, has been keen to organize awareness-raising programs on the importance of adopting preventive measures to prevent infection, through the personal hygiene, healthy diet, and exercising at home, in line with the national efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. 


We, at the Health Promotion Department and other health-supporting associations, are fully prepared to provide all the support and potential needed to strengthen the national solidarity in battling this global health challenge.


I would like to seize this opportunity to say Thank You to the medical and the nursing cadres for their pivotal role in providing healthcare sincerely and professionally. They deserve all the respect. All of us owe them to our safety to keep our society immunized, safe and happy.


Thank you for your humanity and your unlimited efforts for the sake of human health and comfort. We would also like to express our gratitude to our medical and nursing cadres who sacrifice everything for the health of our society, reflecting the greatest values of giving, dedication, and sincerity.
