Dubai, UAE, October 13, 2016: From 9th to 16th of October this year, the State of Qatar will be welcoming around 1,000 racers from over 75 countries to host the Road World Championships organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale - UCI. A shining example of Mapei's commitment to sports is its state-of-the-art Sports Centre, founded in 1996 on an idea by Mapei Chairman Giorgio Squinzi and located today in Olgiate Olona (Varese, Italy); the Mapei Sports Centre assists the athletes of the professional cycling team Mapei, who dominated the world cycling scene for a decade. Its activity revolves around sports assistance, scientific research applied to sports, and sports culture, the centre having gradually expanded over time to include other sports, including football, skiing, basketball, and tennis, to name but a few. This has led to Mapei's participation in other facets of the sports world, eventually leading to the ownership and sponsorship of the Italian professional football team U.S. Sassuolo Calcio, currently playing in Italy's Serie A.
