Dubai, United Arab Emirates, January 26th 2016: Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE, announced that they have joined forces with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to raise awareness of child safety amongst youth in the UAE.

The competition, dubbed “Junior Publisher”, encourages students to spread awareness messages to more than 144,000 of their peers and 360,000 individuals in the community within the year, conducted through the RTA’s Salama Magazine, and incentivising participants through prizes.

“Child safety awareness amongst parents and other drivers alike is paramount to everyone at Al-Futtaim Motors and the RTA,” said Yousuf Ali Al Raeesi, General Manager, Government Relations, Health Security, Safety and Environment at Al-Futtaim Motors. “Unfortunately, we still see a high percentage of drivers who don’t buckle their children up in appropriate child seats, which increases the risk of injury significantly in case of an accident. This grassroots safety initiative targets children who will in turn encourage their parents to follow appropriate child safety laws.”

A total of five winners will be drawn monthly, with each winner receiving a cash prize of AED 1,000. The competition will run for the duration of the year, with the Salama Magazine being distributed to 105 schools across the UAE.
