Starwood Walks to Ajman as Part of Global Road to Awareness Campaign for UNICEF – 11 October Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers has launched its charity event, Starwood Walks to Ajman, in aid of promoting a healthy lifestyle and as part of Starwood’s worldwide fundraising initiative, Road to Awareness, for UNICEF. The initiative will see participants walking along the historical Dubai Creek and witnessing its cultural heritage, passing through Sharjah and the site of the new Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa, and finishing along the beautiful and scenic corniche of Ajman – overlooking the Arabian Gulf – at Ajman Saray, a Luxury Collection Resort. Walkers can choose to walk the entire route from Dubai Creek to Ajman (approximately 26km) or walk from Sharjah Quay to Ajman (approximately 11km), on Saturday 11 October starting at 9:00am. The event is open to both group and individual participation, and the minimum age to participate is 10 years old. Pre-registration is required by 8 October 2014, and registration will start at 8:00am on 11 October. “Sheraton Dubai Creek is delighted to launch the first ever charity walk that covers three Emirates, and we are pleased to have already raised AED 33,000 from our fantastic suppliers and sponsors to go to UNICEF. We are a dedicated member of the community and we strive to give back wherever possible – participating in Starwood’s Road to Awareness campaign is just one part of this community outreach,” said Stephan Vanden Auweele, General Manager of the hotel and Area Manager for 8 Starwood properties across Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman. Every year between April and November, Starwood employees throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) organise fundraising events in their hotels to help support UNICEF. In the six years since the campaign was conceived, Starwood associates have raised over USD 3.2 million for UNICEF projects across EMEA.
