United Arab Emirates, Dubai, December 11, 2013: The Dubai Health Authority recently received a high-level delegation from the Fujita Health University Hospital in Japan. H.E. Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority received the delegation that was headed by Professor Kiyotaka Hoshinaga, Executive Director, Fujita Health University Hospital, Japan. The two parties discussed ways to explore mutual cooperation between the two countries in the field of healthcare. HE Al Maidoor said: “In today's globalised world, exchange of best practices is the way forward, especially in the medical field which is ever-evolving and thus it is essential to keep up with the latest trends and practices in medicine. We look forward to opportunities for mutual cooperation and ways to strengthen this relationship.” He said that DHA collaborates with healthcare institutions from across the globe and that the key parameters for the DHA are quality, innovation and most importantly patient-centered care. Hoshinaga spoke about ways of mutual cooperation and provided an overview of the Fujita Health University Hospital, which is the largest single hospital in Japan that has three campuses and 2,165 beds. The hospital is privately owned and was ranked as number four in Japan in 2012 by the Japanese Government. The hospital is known for its advanced medicine and non-invasive surgery and specializes in multi organ laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, organ transplantation , and neurosurgery. Hoshinaga discussed ways to collaborate and the benefit of transfer of expertise in the medical field. Al Maidoor added that Dubai's strategic location, excellent infrastructure and business friendliness has made the emirate a gateway to the Middle-East. Al Maidoor also provided an overview of the medical sector in Dubai and highlighted some of the key fields in which Dubai has achieved significant success. The DHA delegation aims to visit Japan to further explore best practises in the medical field and visit Fujita Hospital to discuss collaborative initiatives in further details.
