United Arab Emirates, Dubai, December 10, 2013: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the 15th Emirates Ophthalmology Conference(EOC 2013) will take place in Dubai from the 12 to 14 December at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The conference is organised by the Emirates Medical Association and supported by the Dubai Health Authority. Over 950 participants from all over the world will take part in this international congress which focusses on updates and innovations in ophthalmology and provides a forum to discuss the latest advancements in the field as well as review the current practises and discuss hands-on methods to address challenges. His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority thanked His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority for his patronage and support of this conference. He highlighted the importance of this congress and said that it will provide a world-class platform for speakers and delegates coming from all over the world to share their expertise and knowledge. Participants will gain insight into the most effective advances in the diagnosis and management of eye disease as well as methods to prevent blindness. Such conferences promote medical research and help keep up with the latest advances in the field. Thirty-one sub speciality sessions will take place during the three days of the conference and will cover topics such as retina glaucoma, cataract, cornea, refractive surgery, paediatric ophthalmology to name a few. Dr Manal Taryam, Chairperson of the congress said that the success of the previous congresses was due to the dedication of the local and international colleagues to develop highly specialised sessions with the representation of international experts. Latest updates in the development of eye care has always been an important aspect of this conference. More than 40 international faculty members and 36 local faculty members will participate in the three-day congress. EOC 2013 has accepted over 200 abstracts from 20 countries including the Middle-East, Asia and Europe.
