Al-Futtaim Motors foresees a bright future for hybrids in the region

United Arab Emirates, Dubai, 3 November 2013: With a large display of hybrid technology at Al-Futtaim Motors' Toyota stand at the Dubai International Motor Show, visitors will be treated to interactive presentations on Toyota hybrid technology and the role it plays not only in preserving the environment, but also in saving on fuel consumption and contributing towards a lower total cost of ownership.

“We foresee a bright future for hybrid vehicles in the region. People are beginning to realise the many benefits of this technology. We have started to see greater interest from individuals who want to know when Toyota hybrid vehicles will be introduced to the UAE market” said Jon William, Managing Director Al-Futtaim Motors.

“Awareness about hybrid technology is increasing and platforms like the Dubai International Motor Show play a vital role in our educational journey,” he added.

While the UAE Government have already started seeing the financial and environmental benefits of hybrid cars, individuals, who are still benefiting from low fuel prices, still need to get a better understanding of the advantages of this technology.

“Not only are hybrid vehicles becoming increasingly efficient and producing lower emissions than gas-powered automobiles but their performance is also continuing to improve thanks to rapidly advancing technology. The fully hybrid TS030 Le Mans Race car, on display at our stand during the show, is a great example of this,” Williams added.

The Toyota stand will showcase Prius, the number one hybrid car in the world and Camry Hybrid, which now is part of Dubai Taxi Corporation's fleet.

2013 marks the 16th anniversary of Toyota's Hybrid powertrain technology leadership, with Prius setting the global standards for hybrid technology since it was first launched in 1997.

Toyota has sold over 5.5 million hybrid vehicles to date and continues to extend its portfolio, currently offering 23 hybrid models in more than 80 countries across the globe.

Toyota's global hybrid fleet has already saved 12 billion litres of fuel and 34 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, compared to the same number of equivalent, conventionally powered vehicles.

By the end of 2015 Toyota will have introduced a further 16 new or revised hybrid models.

The Toyota TS030 Hybrid racing car, showcased at the stand is developed under Le Mans Prototype rules. With a team based at Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG), Toyota made history by becoming the first manufacturer to build a team entirely around a hybrid powertrain and to enter the FIA World Endurance Championship.
