Dubai Municipality Organizes Community Volunteering Public Cleanliness Event

Within “Clean up the World” campaign

Dubai - 15, November 2021: Dubai Municipality is preparing to organize a community volunteering event in the field of public cleanliness, under the slogan “Supporting Local Environmental Action to Make a World of Difference,” as part of its support and participation in the global campaign 'Clean up the world'. The event is expected to witness the participation of more than 1,000 volunteers belonging to many government and private agencies.  

Eng. Abdulmajeed Saifaie, Director of Waste Management Department at Dubai Municipality, said that this campaign aims to develop positive behavior towards the sustainability of a clean environment, enhance the responsibility of individuals towards preserving their local environment, and raise the level of environmental ideas and awareness among various individuals and segments of society. 

“Clean Up the World has been able to embody the concept of true partnership between society and the environment, and the extent to which the efforts of the public and private sectors are integrated in promoting the values of sustainability that Dubai seeks to be one of the most important sponsoring cities for it,” he said.

Saifaie added that within the framework of this year's Clean Up the World campaign, in its 28th  edition, a set of awareness messages will be presented electronically, in addition to field activities, through which the most prominent awareness concepts in the field of public cleanliness will be highlighted, such as the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly bags instead. of plastic bags, in addition to introducing participants to the various services provided by Dubai Municipality in this field, available through the Municipality’s website and smart App, such as the Bulky Waste Disposal Service and the Agricultural Waste Disposal Service.

It is worth noting the Dubai Municipality has been keen to participate annually in this global community environmental campaign since 1994, which witnesses the participation of various segments of society in cleaning campaigns in various places, such as beaches, desert, industrial and residential areas throughout the Emirate of Dubai. Public has been benefitting from the electronic awareness programs as well as competitions of educational institutions, which in turn contributes to building an aware generation capable of enhancing its role in preserving the local environment and the civilized and aesthetic appearance of the Emirate of Dubai.
