- As Part of the Arab Reading Challenge
- A platform for Children to gain knowledge and winning valuable gifts at Global Village through the launch of an exciting new initiative
Dubai, 05th April 2016: Global Village, the leading cultural and family entertainment destination of the region, has launched a special activation at its premises as part of the ‘Arab Reading Challenge’ initiative which has been created to encourage reading amongst the youth by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. Ahmad Hussain bin Essa, CEO of Global Village said: “We, at Global Village, are keen to play a prominent role in supporting the Arab Reading Challenge which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai and is considered the largest project in the region to encourage reading amongst children and young Arabs.” “Launching this special activation at Global Village reflects our commitment and emphasizes our responsibility as an organization towards reviving Arab culture and developing children’s reading skills by providing an interactive edutainment experience that will enrich their knowledge and encourage them to read. We invite all family members to participate in this event towards their support for reading.” Bin Essa added that Global Village has dedicated a special programme for this event targeting ages between 3 to 10 years of age. This initiative is expected to attract 5000 children across different Arab nationalities. Children will also receive valuable gifts and vouchers after every session of storytelling. This activation, which is based on the traditional Arab art of the story-telling culture of the Middle East region, was revived at Global Village on April 3rd as it brought in a story-teller, known in Arabic as Hakawati, to read out stories to children in a relaxed and inviting ambience replete with bean bags and cushions, at its Roman Amphitheatre. Global Village will host “Hakawati” three times daily at the Roman Amphitheatre at 6 pm, 7 pm and 8:30pm; each session will be for 30 minutes. The story-telling will include interactive sessions with the kids through an exciting medium of puppetry as part of its story-telling experience. The activation takes place three times a day from April 3rd until April 5th. Global Village has also extended the reach of this campaign further by creating a reading corner next to the Roman Amphitheatre, which includes nearly a thousand books as part of a make-shift library to encourage reading amongst the Arab youth. The library is set up with tables, chairs and bean bags creating a conducive environment for children to read to their heart’s content. In its 20th season, Global Village offers a wide range of activities that are considered amongst some of the most exciting and diverse events compared to its last season. Along with this, Global Village also offers amazing entertainment to enhance the experience of all guests and will continue to dazzle visitors until April 9th.
