The Lure of the Western Cultures at Global Village

UK, France, Germany, Russia, Spain and the Americas offer delightful experiences at their pavilions.

Dubai, 2 April, 2016: Global Village, the premier cultural and family entertainment destination of the region has brought in its 20th season, a treasure of experiences through its pavilions that span over the Western world covering Europe and the Americas, all of which are represented by the UK, France, Germany, Russia, Spain and the Americas Pavilions.

UK, France and Germany Pavilion
Guests get a sense of Europe as they walk into a unified pavilion with separate entrances, each of which has a façade that depicts a prominent landmark from each country - the Eiffel tower from France, Brandenburg Gate of Berlin from Germany and Margam Castle of the UK.

This pavilion is very popular for the special British merchandise and the many country branded souvenirs. One can find all sorts of pieces which include t-shirts, coffee cups and thermal flasks embossed with British flags as well as little trinkets like key chains. Another popular stop in this pavilion is the Historyland Studio, which gives guests a chance to transform themselves to look like a Victorian or even a Tudor. This is the perfect opportunity to dress up and have a professional photographer take pictures of you to take home and share with all the family.

Russia Pavilion
Visit the Russia Pavilion and take in the beautiful sights of the stunning façade created to replicate the Cathedral de Sao Basilio in Moscow of Russia. From the intertwined vibrant colours to the attention to details, the façade is truly an amazing piece of art.

The Russia Pavilion offers a wide range of traditional products such as the ‘matryoshka’ dolls and Russian honey which comes in unexpectedly surprising colours. The ‘matryoshka’ dolls come in a set of wooden dolls of decreasing size placed one inside the other and is available in many designs and sizes. Few metres away, you will find a variety of different colours of the Russian honey that truly vary from white to shades of yellow, and are different in their density compared to other types of honey. For lovers of authentic Russian food, a small bakery sells freshly made Russian breads and pastries that have become a big hit with guests. From little souvenirs to authentic Russian food, you will find it all at the Russia Pavilion.

Spain Pavilion
The Spain Pavilion at Global Village offers guests a chance to experience a true range of Spanish experiences. Flaming red flamenco dresses for little girls are being sold at a truly fantastic price and is available for ladies as well. Another store carries interesting curios of Christopher Columbus inspired pieces which include miniature ships and light houses that are inspired by the historic trip of discovering the Americas.

The visit to Spain Pavilion is not complete unless you buy some of the best Spanish olives preserved in saffron and extra virgin olive oil. One can also find gherkins in green tea and Kalamata olives in special Spanish marinades. A real treat for foodies, this pavilion also boasts of a Spanish food stall that sells ‘tapas’, and not far away you will come across another stall that sells freshly made mojitos which has been a very popular place among guests not only for the taste but also for the special friendly service you will get from the owner.

Americas Pavilion
The Americas Pavilion at Global Village is an interesting amalgamation of both the North and South America continents and the façade is a clear depiction of the stark contrast between the two. The architecture of the pavilion facade is inspired by the Empire State Building in New York with a combination of South American distinct elements such as the Mexican hat “Sombrero” and the football that is indicating the love of the Southern continent to this sport.

One must try the original and fresh Bairo Latino Coconut water at the Americas pavilion before moving on to purchasing a colourful Brazilian hammock called a ‘capin dourado’. Another interesting product to get one’s hands on is the jewellery made from golden coloured grass found only in Brazil of South America. The pieces are exquisite with a shade of gold look to the accessories.

Travel on a journey through the West and explore what Europe and the Americas have to offer all in one place. Global Village will close the curtains of its 20th season on April 9th.
