Footfall up by 32% reaching over 14 million from previous year as extensive new brand openings draw shoppers The number of visitors to Al Ghurair Centre in 2015 was up by more than 32% compared to 2014 as the benefits of extensive dining outlets attract record numbers of visitors in addition to the new brands openings throughout the year. Dubai’s first shopping mall has continued to witness increases in the number of visitors in the month of January 2016 exceeding by 60 percent and reaching from 1 Million to 1.6 Million in footfall. According to Hani Dabash, VP-Mall, Residential & Commercial, the combination of a comprehensive re-leasing programme, bringing new international dining outlets and brands to the mall, a unique and highly effective marketing strategy and the completion of the mall’s expansion is paying dividends. Over the last three years, Al Ghurair Centre has invested AED 2 billion towards the Centre’s expansion that has doubled the size of its retail area and has introduced the Dining District, which will be completely opened by June of this year. However, the visitors can still enjoy the unique dining experience as 70% of the shops are already open. “We are continuing to upgrade the streetscape here at Al Ghurair Centre to provide our customers with a fantastic new external F&B environment,” said Dabash. “We have 11 new restaurant concepts that are in the process of opening so we expect the full dining district to be trading by June of 2016. We’re distinctly urban in that most of our customers actually walk to the mall from nearby neighbourhoods. We’re a community mall and want to embrace the urban streetscape and be part of a bigger downtown area.”“Our mall is providing new retail experiences to residents and tourists of all nationalities and extensive research has gone into bringing loved brands from all over the globe to the mall.” Hani explained. Brands setting up home at the mall include internationally renowned Chinese restaurant Din Tai Fung, Bestoon Samad, the popular Arabic/Iraqi food concept, Atisuto for Japanese food, Sangeetha for classic vegetarian Indian cuisine, Max’s Chicken, Jollibee the popular Philippine brand, and Denny’s family diner. In addition to the expanded outdoor dining precinct, the new youth fashion zone has opened with international brands from leading regional retail groups including RSH brands Billabong, Roxy, and Elements to name a few. Other regional retailers such as Landmark, Apparel, Azadea and Carrefour continue to show confidence in Al Ghurair Centre’s new direction due to the significant improvement in the retail mix of popular fashion brands, the calendar of events and mall promotions such as Shop Once Win Twice that began on March 3, 2016. For every AED 300 spent in Al Ghurair Centre during the promotion, customers will be automatically entered into the raffle draw to win huge prizes such as a brand new high-end model of the luxurious Infiniti QX80. The same coupon also gives the customer a chance to win one of the daily prizes such as shopping vouchers, home theatre systems, tablets, watches, mobile phones, cruise tickets, Sparky’s game cards and more.
