In this sophisticated process the floral designs, embroidered on a tulle base, are hand-pinned onto the silk. Then a sewing machine is used to trace the sinuous lines of each branch. Finally the most skilled artisans cut away the excess silk by hand leaving the frastaglio trim of each motif to stand out in all its splendour.
