55 schools in Dubai take part in the official draw to participate in the Dubai Schools Cup kicking off on January 31 Dubai, UAE - January 30, 2015 -The Technical Committee of Dubai Schools Cup (DSC), the Emirate’s official schools football tournament, led by Dubai Sports Council and Inspiratus today announced the official draw, format of play and group formations for Boys U12, U14, U16 and Girls U17, for the Cup’s 2015 season kicking off on January 31. The draw was witnessed by many coaches including defending champions LycéeFrançais International Georges Pompidou (LFIGP), Dubai National School Al Barsha, and St Mary’s Catholic, along with 2015 Cup hopefuls Regent School, Dubai International School Al Quoz, Rajagiri and others. The announcement also included the new format of play in accordance with the highest international standards and best practices. Inspiratus CEO Hussein Murad commented on the technical aspect of the tournament and said: “Building on last year’s success we have raised the level of competition this year and invested a lot of time in strengthening Cup’s rules, regulations and procedures to ensure they are aligned with the highest standards, which will no doubt take the tournament to an even higher level this year.” All group matches will be played at Dubai Sports City’s Football Academy. The Technical Committee also announced the pitch divisions: Boys U12 will play on Silverado Pitch. Boys U14 will play on the Chevrolet Camero and Tahoe Pitches, Boys U16 will play on Impala and Tahoe pitches, Girls U17 will play on Eupepsia pitch and all the fun family activities that help make the tournament a great day out for all will take place on the Fait Maison Cuisine Pitch. The youth football community here is buzzing with excitement and anticipation as teams get in the last few days of practice ahead of the tournament. “We’ve been working hard since the start of the school year, taking on extra practice at Safa Park. Our boys are ready to defend their status and the girls, who just missed the gold last year, will be in top form, physically and mentally with an eye on the prize from Day 1,” said Coach Fred Deswarte, LycéeFrançais International Georges Pompidou. In response to the level of readiness of his team, Coach Mohamed Saqr from Dubai National School said, “Last year was tough competition and we didn’t know what to expect. But this year, we know what we are up against and we know we can achieve great things. I am confident my boys have what it takes to keep their title and they are primed for victory.” At the coaches’ meeting Abdullah Shahdad, Manager of School Sports at Dubai Sports Council congratulated all the schools for their participation in the second edition of DSFC. “We are delighted to have so many schools this year and an even bigger tournament for the girls. The Dubai Schools Cup is an exciting tournament on Dubai’s sporting calendar, we look forward to some excellent matches,” he said. DSFC takes placeSaturdays9am - 5pm from January 31 to March 7at the Dubai Sports City’s Football Academy. The tournament is organized by Inspiratus in partnership with Dubai Sports Council. This year, the teams will compete in four categories: Boys U12, U14, U16 and Girls U17. All Dubai Schools Cup matches will take place at Dubai Sports City on its 7 FIFA approved pitches.
