70 volunteers of Green Hope UAE joined the parade at Downtown Dubai Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 30th November 2014: 70 volunteers of Green Hope UAE, a youth led organization, planted 43 saplings to commemorate a ‘Green’ National Day on 29th November 2014. Sustainable development is one of the main components of UAE's Vision 2021 agenda and it is also one of the fundamental ideas Green Hope strongly believes in. Hence, a group of 70 dedicated volunteers from Green Hope UAE, from the age of 8 to 25, joined the parade at Downtown Dubai, calling for civil society to adopt a sustainable lifestyle. “We feel that as responsible members of the society, we must do our bit for the environment. I personally consider that planting trees is one of the simplest ways of mitigating climate change and reducing the carbon footprint of our planet. This symbolic activity was a show of solidarity from us and all the youth, who are the future generations in building a ‘zero carbon’ future.”, said Kehkashan Basu, the founder and president of Green Hope UAE. Consequently, the organization echoed the call to move to renewable energy and reduce wastage, so that the planet's finite resources are available for generations to come.
