Inaugural PrintPack Arabia opens in Sharjah

Sharjah, 7 April, 2014

Curtains have gone up on a brand new show at Expo Centre Sharjah - the Print Pack Arabia 2014.

Aiming to be a dedicated meeting and sourcing point for the regional printing & packaging industry which is expected to touch US$11 billion by 2015, the inaugural Print Pack Arabia was opened jointly by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Saud Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Central Finance and Mr. Indrajit Pal, I.A.S., Secretary DCPC (Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals) - India, on Monday, 7th April.

All the shows and the conference are running simultaneously and will continue until April 10 at Expo Centre Sharjah.

The opening was attended by Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, Chairman, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah; top executives of co-organisers All India Plastics Manufacturers Association, DEMAT, Indian Printing Packaging and Allied Machinery Manufacturers' Association, Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association and other guests.

“It is a matter of great pride to see the unveiling a new trade show at Expo Centre Sharjah. The calendar of events at Expo Centre is growing consistently and I am sure Print Pack Arabia will be a landmark event for the regional printing and packaging industry,” said Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Midfa, after the opening ceremony.

The fair is jointly organised by Expo Centre Sharjah and the Indian Printing, Packaging and Allied Machinery Manufacturers' Association (IPAMA), the apex body of printing, packaging and allied industries in India.

“I am sure that the tie-up with IPAMA will help Sharjah take centre stage in the fast-growing printing and packing industry in the Middle East region and successfully complement the Plastivision Arabia, Arabia Mold and PlastiCon held simultaneously,” he added.

Print Pack Arabia is featuring more than 70 exhibitors, apart from two special pavilions from India and China and a knowledge-sharing platform through the Technical Seminars.

“The regional industry is driven by growing economies and supported by core sectors such as real estate, retail and new projects. A rise in marketing services and advertising also boosts the industry. The industry here is evolving continually, as packaging buyers continue to search for ways to engage with customers using innovative methods,” said Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa.

“Acquiring latest technologies will be key for the sector to cash in on these positive fundamentals. The Print Pack Arabia will be a comprehensive sourcing platform for printers, industry professionals, buyers and design agencies,” he added.

Experts point out that constantly evolving market trends and continually evolving technology are some of the challenges facing the industry across the world. At the same time, the potential of print is broadening, as packaging companies are beginning to realise the benefits on offer in terms of personalisation, customer engagement and integration with online campaigns.

Keeping the requirements of the industry, Print Pack Arabia is featuring technological innovations, designs and products in the field, and exchange technological know-how and expertise, offering competitive prices and top-quality services from a wide range of regional and international distributors and manufacturers.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 6pm daily from 7 to 10 April 2014 at Expo Centre Sharjah. Admission is only trade and professional visitors.
