Beach Rotana participated in the Earth Hour 2014 and turned its Lobby lights off from 8:30 pm till 9:30 pm Abu Dhabi, April 3, 2014 - Earth Hour is an international event organised by the WWF world Wide Fund for Nature/world wildlife fund, and held on the last Saturday of March each year, which asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. As a part of the international campaign for the Earth Hour 2014, Beach Rotana Earth Champions gathered in the lobby for their annual cycling challenge from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm to generate energy and light the hotel’s lobby during the Earth hour. Other than the lobby, the hotel also switched off the lights in its back office areas and its public areas as well. Commenting on the above Mr. Jörg A. Hauri, General Manager of Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi said: 'We are proud to be part of this international activity and it will be the fourth year in a row that we organise this cycling challenge. We believe this is a minor contribution that could be considered by every industry and household hoping that the commitment to this event multiplies every year and succeeds by increasing the yearly amount of energy saved worldwide.' In addition to the Earth Hour cycling, Beach Rotana also launched the Green Corner called “Green Way Avenue”, the objective is to raise awareness among the employees to observe sustainable environment. They have the opportunity to pledge on the wall to show their commitment towards the environment and sustainability. Another great initiative from Beach Rotana was the Arts of Recycling Exhibition; it is an event throughout the month of UAE Green Festival. Recycled items created by their talented and artistic employees from different departments who spent their time and effort to produce innovative and unique art crafts made of newspaper, disposable spoons, water bottles, wine corks and others. Thirty different items made out of recycle will be displayed at the Beach Rotana in front of Rodeo Grill restaurant on the 30th March until 5th April 2014 where guests can vote the best displayed items. The aim of the exhibition is mainly to encourage Beach Rotana employees to segregate waste at their workplace. Posted on www.godubai.com
