Focuses on “Communicating Quality: The Voice for Healthcare Improvement” Abu Dhabi-UAE: December 14, 2013 - Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a part of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), today marked the successful conclusion of its third Healthcare Quality Week focusing on ‘Communicating Quality: The Voice for Healthcare Improvement'. A symposium held at the Center for Documentation & Research, Abu Dhabi served as a fitting wrap up to the week hosting a keynote speech by Dr. Kedar Mate from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), US. The session also recognized winners of the various activities that were held as part of the initiative. The Healthcare Quality Week that ran from December 8-14 drew the enthusiastic participation of staff from across the AHS ambulatory care centers, disease prevention and screening centers, as well as school health services. Articulating AHS' commitment to providing quality and safe healthcare practices for the Abu Dhabi community, the event also aimed to promote coordination and collaboration within the network, while laying the ground for future quality and safety initiatives as well as accreditation projects. Mohamed Hawas, Chief Executive Officer, said: “In line with SEHA's vision to shaping a quality healthcare landscape, we at AHS seek to promote a culture of safe medical practices among our patients, customers, visitors and staff. The Healthcare Quality Week celebration inspired creativity, teamwork, responsibility, and collaboration among the AHS staff – factors that we believe are integral to organizational success and staff empowerment. This celebration also came as an endorsement of the management's support to maintaining world-class quality and safety standards throughout the AHS network.” The Healthcare Quality Week event included a variety of activities built around the initiative's theme of ‘Communicating Quality: The Voice for Healthcare Improvement' and hosted competitions to evaluate quality improvement projects, quality booths, posters, and photography. Commenting on the event, Dr Azhar Ali, Directory of Quality at AHS, said: “This event was designed to support AHS' mission towards providing best-in-class healthcare. The activities that we conducted through the week fostered a healthy competitive environment and presented an opportunity to discover staff creativity, ingenuity and critical thinking skills.
