Waldorf Astoria introduces Peacock Alley Ras Al Khaimah 22 SEPTEMBER 2013 – Meet me under the clock; Fashionistas and peacocks. The recently opened Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah proudly presents their impressive signature lounge. Peacock Alley is as much an integral part of New York's vibrant history as it is of Waldorf Astoria. The original promenade that joined together the Astoria and the Waldorf hotels allowed the celebrated brand to be known as Waldorf Astoria. The impressive social promenade became ‘the place to see and be seen'. Fashionistas, the rich and famous would show off their colourful ‘plumage' in this grand setting. Despite changing times, Peacock Alley is still very much associated with being the social hub of the hotel. The wide and glamorous promenade is the main entrance of the hotel. Throughout the hotel is a prominent underwater theme which is complemented with the classical colours taken from nature – soft creams represent the white sandy beaches, reds the desert and mountains and the blue hues of the ocean. Peacock Alley is speckled with art that reflects the colourful feathers of this magnificent bird. Vibrant turquoise leather arm chairs stand proud amidst subtle cream leather settees which are scattered with raw silk and fine linen cushions. Bright alcoves are set slightly back from the main Peacock Alley serving as tranquil zones. A touch of the legacy of Waldorf Astoria New York is now in Ras Al Khaimah with the finest traditional Waldorf food including the globally acclaimed Waldorf Salad. The Alley is a bright and open place during the day, perfect for some of the world's finest coffees and light snacks, and as the night draws close and cocktail hour begins, the atmosphere changes and guests relax to the twinkling of piano keys.
