Statement by His Excellency Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality On the National Reading Month

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 27, 2023:  “The Month of Reading is a national and knowledge occasion in the UAE, which contributes to building a scientifically and culturally cohesive society with advanced levels of knowledge closely related to reading as part of the country’s knowledge development process. Under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the initiative is a reflection of the vision of the nation’s wise leadership and was launched with an aim to consolidate and develop knowledge and create a model society that is capable of guiding the journey of growth and development.

 

The key purpose of National Reading Month is to enhance people's reading levels and to advance their knowledge and culture in order to increase opportunities for innovation. By implementing a variety of programmes, initiatives, and motivational, educational, and cultural dialogue sessions that promote and encourage community members to take an interest in reading, Dubai Municipality is keen to develop and establish a culture of reading among its employees and members of society.
