Dubai UAE, January 21, 2016: For the third time in Dubai, the world renowned and extremely talented Etoiles and Soloists from the Paris Opera National Ballet performed an exceptional Ballet Gala at the Madinat Theatre. Held on the 7th and 8th of January, the unmatched Gala this year featured Dorothee Gilbert, one of the most acclaimed dancers of the Opera and elegant Brand Ambassador of Swiss watchmaker and jeweller Piaget. The graceful ballerina received a bouquet of vibrant Piaget Roses as a token of commendation for her beautiful performance that also had Jean Marc Shammas, Piaget Brand Director for the Middle East in attendance. Ms. Gilbert holds the honour of the Etoile title, awarded as the highest level of achievement within the Paris Opera. Performing leading roles in refined ballets such as Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Romeo & Juliet and many more, Ms Gilbert along with her partner Hugo Marchand performed the high-skilled Pas de Deux from Giselle and also presented a piece by prominent choreographer Benjamin Millepied, the new Ballet Director of the Paris Opera and husband of Hollywood actor, Natalie Portman. The piece titled Amoveo was presented in the UAE for the very first time. Along with Dorothee, this Ballet Grand Gala featured soloist artists of the Paris Opera, representing the new generation of talented dancers, who train under Millepied. The Gala opened with the technically challenging Pas de Trois, Paquuita, choreographed by Pierre Lacotte while Act Two showcased Millepied’s original adaptation “Amoveo” which detailed the metamorphosis of a love story and its effect on the couple and their companions. Truly unprecedented, Ballet Gala enthralled the audiences of the UAE with its uniqueness and excellence, worthy of the most renowned stages around the globe.
