August 9, 2015 - Leaders of Tomorrow and the D2international social impact fellowship organized the first Social Innovation Challenge of its kind in the Middle East, which was hosted in Amman, Jordan. The Challenge convened 30 Jordanian youth to develop creative, community-based solutions. D2international is a global social impact fellowship created by a group of Deloitte millennial employees from the consulting practice in the US focused on creating solutions for international communities. It aims to be a catalyst for socially impactful business practices and works each year with a leading international organization to help build capacity and scale impact. “D2i is founded and operated with the belief that doing “good” is good business. We impact communities through the exchange of ideas, cultures, and business practices. Our local partners are innovative, capable, and able to translate Deloitte’s philanthropic commitment into direct community progress,” said Kate Wharton, D2international program leader and consultant at Deloitte. This year, D2international collaborated with Leaders of Tomorrow, a Jordanian youth-led organization working on community initiatives at the grassroots level across all governorates of Jordan and the Arab region at large. Leaders of Tomorrow champions an empowerment philosophy and focuses on civic engagement and opportunities for youth. The collaboration between D2international and Leaders of Tomorrow culminated in a “Social Innovation Challenge” focused on building critical thinking skills, turning ideas into action, and helping young people discover the power of their stories to bring about positive change. Youth leaders worked together with Deloitte practitioners to discuss community challenges, develop an informed perspective, and harness the art of storytelling to take action in their local communities. “With the Social Innovation Challenge, Leaders of Tomorrow continues to build a community of innovators and pioneer social solutions. In the coming months, the organization will launch an ambitious new vision that leverages a social enterprise model to achieve impact at scale,” concluded Dr. Sami Hourani, founder and Director of Leaders of Tomorrow.
