It was celebration time at the Coral Beirut Al Hamra Hotel as its culinary team brought laurels to the hotel by winning second position in the inter-hotel cooking competition held on the sidelines of the HORECA show, the largest exhibition for the hospitality industry in Lebanon and the Middle East, which was held in Beirut, from April 20-23, 2015. The participating team of Coral Beirut Al Hamra Hotel, comprising Executive Chef Mohammad Ezzi and Sous Chef Ali Chehab, won second place in the Best Burger Competition held during the event. They faced tough competition from other participating teams from Le Gray Hotel, Le Royal Hotel, Phoenicia Hotel, Lancaster Plaza and Cordoba Restaurant. Hartmut Grauel, General Manager of Coral Beirut Al Hamra Hotel, praised the chefs for demonstrating their culinary skills and fighting spirit to bring home the Runners Up medal. He stressed, “Both the chefs were highly motivated and showcased their culinary skills and talent very well. We are glad they participated with such passion and energy in the competition and finished in the top league." At first, it seemed quite easty to participate in the Best Burger Competition, but it became intense as the participants were all chefs working with various five-star hotels. While preparing the burger for the judges, the chefs used their imagination in making the burger impressive - both in taste and presentation.
