First place won by Ajman University graduates at Tamiaz & Falak Tayyeb

January 8, 2015: The award ceremony for Tamaiz and Falak Tayyeb competition was held Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, in the presence of Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, along with honorable dignitaries, government officials, sponsors and media.

Six Engineering graduates of “Thank You, Khalifa” batch from Ajman University of Science all secured the first place award in “Tamiaz & Falak Tayyeb ' at its seventh session, under the category   'inventions and smart services '. The group consists of Omar Saeed Mohammadi , Youssef AlNajjar  , Mohammad Nour, Humaid Saif AlNuaimi, Hazem Mohammad AlSarhan and Nour Ali Fakhr.

The Invention presented is a special wheelchair designed for the disabled special people. It is remotely controlled by the signals emitted through brainwaves of the user. This device has won many accolades for its uniqueness and community oriented initiative. The chair is able to detect obstacles and hurdles in the path through a camera installed over head. The camera is designed to recognize and through voice command warn the user of the obstacle in the path.

Prof. Mustahsan Mir, Head of Electrical Engineering Department at Ajman University explained that “ such competition encourages and prepares the students to enter the labour market equipped with the right skills set and experience of converting their ideas into projects ”

The Tamaiz & Falak Tayyeb Award aims to encourage competition among UAE national students and graduates in both government and private universities and institutes to promote creativity and innovation. This competition enriches the spirit and promotes entrepreneurship and positive competition while encouraging students to be creative and innovative. There are 7 categories of completion that students can vie for they include: Innovators, Commercial Projects, Health & Environment, Education, Islamic Economics, Social Networking and Leadership.
