Shuro Gunjan features familiar artist of Dubai Rehana Rahman on 7th March Lovers of ghazals and Nazrul Geet are in for a big treat this week as Global Konnekt will host the graceful and popular face of Dubai, Dhaka and Canada Rehana Rahman for a musical evening Shuro Gunjan at Nashwan Hall Al Nasr Leisureland on March7th 2014. Rehana Rehman was born in Bangladesh, a land of beautiful voices. She is one of many nightingales the land of rivers has produced.Born into a family of music-lovers, Rehana started learning music from the music Maestros of the time at a very young age, including Puleen Dey and Umar Farooq. The great national poet Qazi Nazar Ul Islam, whose music is recognized not only in Bangla speaking world but across the globe as Nazarul-geeti, is one of the genres that Rehana took lessons from the great gurus in this music form, as a ritual to pay homage to the great poet philosopher. Rehana has been singing regularly for radio, television. And she got opportunity to do solo performances in many concerts across the country and overseas including Canada and Dubai, where she has good audience. In the last five-six years, she has sung for three solo albums , two for lyrics of Qazi Nazarul Islam and another of 12 Modern Bengali Songs of contemporary poets.Her albums of Nazrul Geeti ' Mone Pode & Ke Ele Monohor' and Modern Bengali Songs' album ' Mon Keno Bojhena ' She has sung not only in Bangla but also rendered the Ghazals and Geets of famous Urdu poets including Asad Ullah Khan Ghalib, Mir Taqi Mir, Soofi Tabasum, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ahmed Faraz and Nasir Kazmi. Rehana personally likes singing Faiz Ahmed Faiz, as Ghazal -lovers believe she justifies his lyrics well. The concert at Al Nasr Leisureland Nashwan hall will feature Bangla songs, modern songs, Nasrul geet, ghazals and many more.
