Telematics, OpenTEC and NEC sign Strategic Partnership to introduce Smart Guest Check-in Kiosk in the UAE

Intuitive, automated interface transforms guest experience and boosts safety, security, and efficiency

Dubai – October 28, 2021 – Telematics, the region’s leading ICT and ELV engineering, integration, and maintenance service provider, in collaboration with OpenTEC, ME’s leader in Document Scanning, System Integration and Guest Facing Solutions, and NEC Enterprise Solutions, global leader in Communications & IT solutions, today announced the market introduction of Smart Guest Check-in Kiosk, a revolutionary self-service solution that streamlines the check-in and check-out process for Hotels, with an easy-to-use, automated interface that walks a guest through the check in/check out process automatically.

Craig Vance, General Manager at Telematics, said: “The technology world is dynamic, and change is the only constant. Since the pandemic hit, technology developers, in conjunction with system integrators, across the world achieved groundbreaking advances to automation and contactless systems to cater to the changing nature and behavior of the consumers.”

“Whether checking in for leisure trips or formal gathering, the guest experience must be convenient, safe, welcoming, and seamless. Our collaboration with OpenTEC and NEC has produced a ground-breaking self-service solution transforming the guest experience. The Self Check-in Kiosk we are introducing to the market at The Hospitality Network Event enables guests to walk up to the Kiosk, verify their identity through facial recognition (depending on country) or a previously received QR-code, pull up their reservation information, add a payment option if needed, encode their room key cards and receive their room assignment, and move on to enjoying their stay without coming into contact with a single person,” he added.

Mo. Khan, Managing Director of OpenTEC, said, “As the Guest-Process is so simple and transparent, we are assured that, also based on our in-depth knowledge of both the Government Regulations as well as current available Hotel-systems, OpenTec has developed all required web interfaces to communicate with Government Authority Systems for all countries in the GCC and we can set up and develop any new integrations in a very short period.”

At check-out the guest at the Smart Kiosk selects the check-out options, reviews, and confirms the charges. Billing is immediately completed and a confirmation with receipt is sent to the guest’s email - with minimum disruption. NEC Smart Check-in Kiosk solution not only transforms the guest experience and enhances staff efficiency, but it also reduces waiting times and boosts guest safety and security.

Fully integrated with other Hospitality systems
The Smart Check-in Kiosk integrates easily with a Hotel’s PMS system as well as facial recognition software, touch screen display, camera, Passport/ID reader, credit card payment device and door key encoder. The software immediately alerts staff when a room has been assigned and when the guest has officially checked out. While guests can choose their language of choice, the interface is fully customizable, completely in line with the brand and marketing standards of the hotel-group, or independent property.

Kees van Donk, Senior Director Travel, Hospitality & Leisure at NEC Enterprise Solutions, pointed out: “As Covid had a massive negative impact on the entire Travel, Hospitality & Leisure Industry, there might be one positive outcome; that the Industry now understands that the time for Digital Transformation and Communication is now! The NEC Smart Check in Kiosk is just the right solution for the right time.”

“This Partnership is truly unique and will be the cornerstone of our success in the UAE and the wider Middle East. NEC has the products, solutions, global reach and contacts & approvals with the brands; Opentec is THE leading System Integrator in Hospitality with regard to connecting the “Kiosk-dots” and Telematics has the breadth and depth from a commercial perspective. We are looking forward to a very successful launch of Kiosk in the UAE, with the Promise to ‘Wow the Guest and Increase the Profit’ for our Hotel customers,” Kees concluded.

Across all major geographic regions NEC is one of the key suppliers of choice to the Hospitality industry. By merging leading IT and Communication technologies, NEC deploys solutions with the scalability, capability, and affordability to meet the demanding business needs of hotels, event centres, cruise lines and travel organizations.
