Dubai, UAE, March 26, 2016: Bassem Youssef (Cairo, Egypt), the heart surgeon turned satirist will ensure STEP Conference lives up to its name as the most disruptive event of its kind in The Middle East, when he speaks at the event in April. Bassem Youssef ‘s major breakthrough is attributed to hosting three successful seasons of the controversial show Al Bernameg until 2014 following his online YouTube show B+. Dubbed as “The Jon Stewart of the Arab World”, Youssef was inspired by the famous American comedian and his iconic programme The Daily Show. His appearance on The Daily Show in 2012 saw one of the highest viewership’s ever on the show’s website. Youssef has been internationally credited for his influence with accolades such as presenting the Emmy Awards in 2015, and in 2013 Time Magazine cited him as one of the top 100 most influential people in the world in its highly coveted annual list. Bassem Youssef will appear at STEP Conference on the 4th of April and will talk about his journey with digital satire. This will be his first public appearance in the region in front of a live crowd in a long time.
