Dubai GEP and San Diego-based Cleantech to foster innovative green technologies

Meeting to tap into the vast array of companies under the Cleantech banner to boost foreign investment in Dubai’s booming green economy

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Dubai Green Economy Partnership (Dubai GEP) recently met with Cleantech San Diego in California with the aim of promoting the adoption of green technologies, products and services worldwide. The future partnership will also lead to accelerated trade and investment in innovative green technologies regionally and internationally; particularly in the UAE where 2015 has been announced as the ‘Year of Innovation’.

The meeting was held when a delegation from Dubai Green Economy Partnership comprising of members from various high-level government bodies, such as Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI) - an agency of the Department of Economic Development in Dubai - EnPark and Dubai Carbon, visited California in an effort to connect the most innovative clean technology companies in Silicon Valley and San Diego with Dubai.

Also, the delegation attended the Low Carbon Energy Investment Forum in San Francisco, where Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and EnPark showcased Dubai’s green economy and presented the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy.

Cleantech San Diego is a non-profit membership body that positions the greater San Diego region, including Imperial County and Baja California, as a global leader in the clean technology economy. The organisation focuses on fostering collaborations across the private-public-academic landscape, leading advocacy efforts to promote cleantech priorities, and encouraging investment in the San Diego region.

According to the meeting, which was held at the law offices of Latham & Watkins, Cleantech San Diego will now explore opportunities for collaboration beyond the US and into the Middle East’s booming green economy.

“Cleantech San Diego looks forward to continuing conversations with The Dubai Green Economy Partnership,” said Jason Anderson, President and CEO, Cleantech San Diego. Our organizations share a common goal of advancing opportunities for cleantech solutions worldwide. We are excited about the prospect of future collaborations between our two regions, which create valuable opportunities for Cleantech San Diego member companies to conduct business on a global scale.”

Fahad Al Gergawi, CEO of Dubai FDI and Secretary General of Dubai GEP commented, “The partnership will give green technology innovators in Dubai privileged access to a vast array of companies and service providers under the Cleantech umbrella. The Silicon Valley has led the tech boom. These innovations are set to transcend across green technologies. Furthermore, Dubai FDI is encouraging the US-based companies to come to the emirate and set up shop as demand for green technologies ramps up.”

“I believe that to truly grow the green economy  in Dubai, we need to connect with international markets, communicate our successes and discuss the challenges, while also sharing knowledge learned from global industry leaders,” said Marwan Abulaziz Janahi, Executive Director of EnPark, a member of TECOM Investments.“The Forum provided an important platform for us to showcase Dubai GEP’s achievements and accomplishments within the energy sector.”oke for precise application of colour that delivers a base coat and glossy top coat finish all-in-one - wow!
