Lights out for Ajman Saray, a luxury collection resort: hotel goes dark for earth hour 2015 as part of worldwide movement for the environment

Ajman, March 29, 2015 - It’s lights out for Ajman Saray, a Luxury Collection Resort. The hotel joined millions around the world in turning off lights for Earth Hour 2015 to illuminate a powerful message about environmental awareness and action.

Earth Hour 2015 took place on March 28 at 8:30 p.m. local time.  The annual global environmental awareness event was created and instituted by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2007 to emphasize the threat of global warming and the need to reduce carbon emissions.

Ajman Saray, a Luxury Collection Resort participated by turning off exterior signage lighting; turning off non-essential interior lighting; used candlelight in the lobby and restaurants and created a special 0 km dish for the occasion, a seafood salad with locally sourced ingredients in order to reduce the carbon footprint.

Ajman Saray, a Luxury Collection Resort took their participation in Earth Hour even further to include the hotel accommodation building as well. All public lights were turned off and the hotel ambassadors got together in the communal area by candlelight in celebration of Earth Hour 2015.

Last year, nearly half of Starwood’s 1,200 properties participated. In addition to energy conservation, many properties hosted Earth Hour inspired activities that engaged associates and guests alike to promote and celebrate environmental awareness. Some projects and programming included themed menus designed to highlight local and organic foods and Earth Hour inspired cocktails; special performances, tailored concerts, and displays of traditional entertainment; and distinctive campaigns devised to support individual community initiatives and conservation efforts.
