C'est Magnifique! Sofitel Celebrates its 50 years

Throughout its anniversary year, Sofitel will reveal the 50 ‘magnifique moments’ that define French art-de-vivre around the world

March, 2014 – Sofitel is very proud to announce its 50th anniversary in 2014. The special year marks a half-century of Sofitel’s artful blending of the best of French art-de-vivre with local cultural refinement, today in more than 120 luxury addresses in 40 countries around the world. Sofitel’s anniversary year offers a nod to both its history and traditions, while simultaneously looking ahead to the future, with more than 30 hotel openings planned around the world through 2015.

Over the course of its 50 years, Sofitel has continuously strived to be the symbol of French elegance in luxury hospitality. As such, throughout 2014, Sofitel will reveal the 50 ‘magnifique moments’ that embody its unique approach to French elegance, and which epitomize Sofitel’s three core themes of design, gastronomy and culture. To be unveiled one-by-one via Sofitel’s Facebook page, these 50 magnifique moments will highlight the events, partnerships, openings, brand offers, hotel stories that are at the very heart of Sofitel. From the luxury of cousu main service to the pleasure of Sofitel’s Wine Week, from the most well-known international design collaborations to the pampering of its wellness concept So Spa…Life is Magnifique at Sofitel!

Regularly throughout the year, Sofitel will also reveal three major events, inspired by each of its three themes and illustrating how Sofitel’s French art-de-vivre is celebrated around the world. Stay tuned for the first announcements!

THE 2014 TRAVEL AGENDA: 50TH ANNIVERSARY INSPIRATIONS & DESTINATIONS
To help commemorate its 50th anniversary year, Sofitel has also published an anniversary edition of its annual Travel Agenda: A pocket guide, a blend between brand lifestyle travel inspirations and a classic hotel directory. The special edition immerses readers in the Sofitel universe, allowing them to discover a selection of 50 worldwide events in design, gastronomy and culture in 2014, along with a highlight on Sofitel’s addresses in more than 40 countries.

Additionally, the 2014 Travel Agenda features exclusive interviews with Michelin-starred French chef Paul Bocuse; Jean-Claude Ellena, the exclusive ‘nose’ of Hermès; Betrand Piccard, the godfather of the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Foundation; and Ines de la Fressange, icon of French elegance. These four prestigious personalities, who each share key values with Sofitel, answer specific questions related to his/her thoughts about both the past and the upcoming 50 years, all on the occasion of Sofitel’s 50th anniversary. The Travel Agenda is available in each hotel.
