Dubai-UAE: 9 February, 2017: The World Government Summit (WGS) 2017 today announced that it will livestream all events via social media throughout its three-day duration. Running from February 12 to February 14, WGS 2017 will attract more than 4,000 personalities from 139 countries and feature 150 speakers across 114 sessions, which makes it the largest edition to date. This is the first time an event of this scale and magnitude is being livestreamed in the UAE. The Summit has appointed an expert team that will use state-of-the-art digital technology to ensure the Summit’s events reach the widest possible audience. The team will feature producers, TV broadcast directors, editors, designers, and program engineers. Commenting on the pioneering move, Omar Sultan Al-Ulama, Director of the WGS Organization, said: “Given the importance of the topics that the summit’s sessions will discuss, the management deemed it necessary to engage wider social segments in the global dialogue seeking solutions to pressing humanitarian issues.” He added: “The decision to livestream WGS events aligns with the summit’s drive towards satisfying the immense global interest in following big events online in real time. The initiative has received an enthusiastic response across widespread social media platforms that support livestreaming - includingYouTube, Periscope, Instagram, and Facebook.” Under the theme ‘Shaping future governments’, the World Government Summit 2017 will highlight current global challenges and showcase best practices and cutting-edge solutions to deal with them. Participants will include decision makers from governments, global organizations, and private and public sector entities, as well as entrepreneurs, academics, university students, scientists, and innovators.
