Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Celebrates World Music Day With Orchestra Performance on 28 June

Dubai, UAE, 24 June 2024: As part of its vision to support young talents and celebrate World Music Day, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, in cooperation with Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra and a group of young talents from all over the UAE, will organise the first concert in a series of cultural talent and music concerts on its stage. The concert will include orchestral performances and operatic singing, on Friday, June 28, at 7:30 pm. The library will also be organising an exhibition featuring 120 books on Arab and international music in multiple languages.

This concert comes within the framework of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library's commitment to support young talents and stimulate passion for arts and culture, in addition to its great belief in the role of music and its influence as a universal language that unites peoples, and a powerful tool for advancing the cultural and intellectual taste of society.

The concert program will consist of a variety of classical music works, presented by a group of young talents from the UAE, starting with a wonderful performance of 'Variations of Twinkle Twinkle' by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with orchestral arrangement by Riad Kudsi. This will be followed by a performance of the 'Concerto in G Major, Op. 11 for Violin and Piano (first movement)' by F. Kuchler, with a solo violin performance by Kabir Khan and piano accompaniment by Yousef Khan.

The evening will also feature pieces from 'Concerto in B minor for violin and piano (first movement)' by O. Rieding, performed by Xia Zhang for solo violin, followed by Meidong Sun's 'Children's Game for violin and piano' with Tamara Tepavcevic for piano, followed by 'Simple square dance' by D. A. Straus with orchestral arrangement by Riad Kudsi.

The performances will also include 'Fantasia Espagnol (Souvenir de Sarasate) for violin and piano' by W. H. Potstock, with solo violin by Yicheng Liu, 'Concertino in G major (first movement) for violin and piano' by A. Komarovsky, with solo violin by Mirabella Iyad Bani Ode, and 'Concerto in D major for violin and piano (first movement)' by F. Kuchler, with solo violin by Chengxi Ha.

The first part of the concert will end with a special performance of 'Sonata No. 25 in G major, Op. 79 for piano' by Ludwig van Beethoven, performed by Hamad Al Khyeli for piano solo, followed by 'A Merry Dance for cello and piano' by A. Carse, performed by Angelina Iyad Bani Ode for cello solo, in addition to pieces from 'Concerto in G minor for violin and strings (first movement) by A. Vivaldi, performed by Lana Koudsi for violin solo.

In the second part of the concert, young talents will perform 'Longa Farah Faza for Qanoon' by R. Al Simbati, with a solo qanoon performance by qanoon teacher Nowar Jehad Obaid, in addition to a performance of 'Concerto in E Minor, Op. 64 for violin and piano (first movement)' by F. Mendelssohn, with a solo violin performance by Aarav Dayal.

There will also be 'Suit No. 2 for Flute and Strings' by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed for flute solo by Sampurna Choudhury.This will be followed by a performance of 'Little Night Music for Strings' by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The concert will continue with a piano trio performance (Prelude, Waltz, and Polka) by D. Shostakovic, performed for viola solo by Benjami Graham, cello by Kenodh De Silva, and piano by Murray Wang. The concert will end with a performance of 'Whirligig (Little Waltz) for little orchestra' by A. Hewitt-Jones, followed by 'Ah! Vous Dirai-je, Maman variation on them Mozart' by C. Dancla, performed by Aarav Dayal, Yicheng Liu, Lana Koudsi, and Sambodhi Choudhury, as well as a wonderful performance of Sayed Darwish's 'Tlet Ya Mahla Norha' with orchestral arrangement by Riad Kudsi.

On the sidelines of the concert, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library will be organising a unique exhibition, bringing together more than 120 books in different languages, highlighting Arab and international music, and a number of Arab and international musicians. The exhibition aims to enrich visitors' musical knowledge and enhance cultural understanding by exploring the diversity of musical styles and different artistic methods. It will also allow the public to discover diverse melodies and experiences, and contribute to raising awareness on the importance of music as a tool for cultural and artistic communication.
