Dubai Carbon conducts a three day carbon awareness program for selected officers Dubai, March 25, 2015: As part of the ‘Zero Carbon Police Force’ project, the authorities nominated 35 officers to attend a three-day carbon awareness training program. This is an important step in realising the MoU that was signed between Dubai Carbon and Dubai Police to jointly develop initiatives for energy efficiency, fuel saving, and carbon offsetting. “The programme covers three-days of sessions on green credentials for Dubai Police. It is unheard off for a police force to try and lower its carbon footprint, and, hence, we will spare no effort in helping the local authority to accomplish their goal,” commented Waleed Salman, Chairman, Dubai Carbon. The sessions exposed the police focal points to different exercises within the realm of general climate change, carbon foot printing, case studies of on-ground application of the process and actualscenariosof Dubai Police’s emissions. Lt. Col. Dr Tamim Mohd Al Haj, HSE Director, Dubai Police said, “Dubai Police is not just invested with the task of keeping the city safe and ensuring systematic law and order situations. It is our duty to serve the Emirate’s citizens, but, we have a larger responsibility to carry out our proceedings efficiently. Hence, it is very important for us to find means to mitigate our carbon footprint while going through our routine activities, such as patrolling and ensuring our buildings are offices are low carbon emitting.” The partnership between Dubai Police and Dubai Carbon is going to effectively contribute to the sustainable and green growth of Dubai and UAE’s economy, enable the growth of green trade and investment in regional markets and to accelerate the adoption of green technologies, products and services worldwide. The success of these projects will catapult Dubai police as a carbon neutral - the first police force in the world to achieve this feat.
