Dates to be delivered on demand throughout the city

UAE, 1 July 2014: Uber, an international smartphone app that seamlessly connects riders with a private driver, celebrates the spirit of Ramadan with ‘UberDates.’ For today only, the unique service allows Uber customers to request a box of dates to be delivered to their location, from the hours of 12 pm to 6 pm, at a flat fare of 50 AED.

JP Mondalek, General Manager for Uber UAE, says: “At UBER, we are incredibly passionate about providing people with a safe and convenient choice in transportation. With UberDates, we are now taking that convenience a step further by using our technology to offer a unique on-demand experience, simply at the touch of a button. Requesting customers will be able to use the reliability and efficiency of the Uber app to get dates delivered to themselves, their home, their office or even to a family or friend’s location.”

The delivery will also still provide the cashless, transparent Uber features, including knowing exactly when the car will reach the requesting customer, as well as having access to a live GPS-enabled map, making it easier for customers to send dates to another location.

Uber is currently providing services in over 130 cities across 38 different countries. It has been in Dubai since October 2013, Abu Dhabi since January 2014, and is already in Doha, Jeddah and Riyadh with plans for expansion across the Middle East. Once downloaded the app can be used anywhere across the world, making it especially useful when traveling outside of the country.

To request a box of dates, new users must download the free application for Android, iPhone, Blackberry 7, or sign up at uber.com/app.
